Uttar Pradesh: 3-yr-old girl killed, woman injured in attack by man-eater wolf

Bahraich (UP): A three-year-old girl was killed and a woman was injured by a man-eater wolf in the Mahsi area of Bahraich district here in Uttar Pradesh, sources said here on Monday.
 
Sources said that Anjali (3), a resident of Nauwan Garethi village, was dragged by the wolf while she was sleeping with her mother late on Sunday night around 3:30 am.
 
"After hearing the cries of the girl, the family members surrounded the wolf, but it dragged the girl into the field," they said.
 
After a search, the body of the girl was recovered. "The wolf had chewed both the hands of the girl," they said.
 
Sources said that the wolf also attacked a woman, Achala (50), in Bara Kotiya village. "The woman was injured in the attack and has been admitted to medical college," they said.
 
It may be noted that the man-eater wolves have so far killed 10 people. While four wolves have been trapped, efforts are being made to trap two others.
 
District magistrate Monika Rani and Superintendent of Police (SP) Vrinda Shukla reached the house of the girl who died in the wolf attack and met the victim's family and consoled them and gathered information about the incident.
