Shahjahanpur (UP): A 12-year-old Dalit girl was sexually assaulted by a 50-year-old man in the Sadar Bazar area of Shahjahanpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Monday.
Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar said Israr, alias Guddu, enticed the girl on Sunday and took her to a shop.
"There, the accused raped the victim after threatening her with dire consequences," he said.
He said that on the complaint of the family members, a case has been lodged against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita and Pocso Act.
"The accused has been arrested and the girl has been sent to the government medical college for medical examination," he said.
