WEATHER ALERT: Thunderstorm, lightning predicted across several parts of India

Pune: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, north Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Andaman, Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, south Gujarat Region, Konkan, Goa, Telangana, Kerala, Mahe and interior Karnataka during next 24 hours.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hail very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

Dense to very dense fog very likely in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; Dense fog at isolated pockets over northwest Rajasthan.

Night temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over Punjab, west Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Konkan, Goa and coastal Karnataka; at a few places over east Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gujarat State, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Lakshadweep and near normal over rest parts of the country.

The lowest minimum temperature of 7.5°C reported at Narnaul (Haryana) over the plains of the country.

Thunderstorm recorded (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today) at isolated places over Uttarakhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe.

Fog observed (at 0830 hours IST of today): Dense to very dense fog in some pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; at isolated pockets over northwest Rajasthan; Dense fog at isolated pockets over Bihar.

Visibility recorded (at 0830 hours IST of today) (200 metre of less): Amritsar, Ludhiana, Hissar, Bhiwani and Ganganagar-25 m each; Karnal and Bhagalpur-50 m each; Patiala- 200 m.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka state and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. (UNI)
