Weather plays havoc in UP: 29 dead

Lucknow: Weather played havoc in Uttar Pradesh during the past 24 hours and claimed 29 lives while injuring over 50 people, sources said on Sunday.

According to them, eight deaths were reported from Unnao district, during thunderstorm but most of the deaths were due to lightning.

They said that five each deaths were also reported in Kannauj and Rae Bareli, three in Agra, and one each in Lucknow, Kanpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Lakhimpur Kheri Muzaffarnagar and Mainpuri.

Official sources here said that the families of the deceased would be given Rs four lakh as compensation as announced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. (UNI)
