New Delhi: Delhi is likely to witness another warm day on Friday, as the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 44 degrees Celsius, said the India Meteorological Department(IMD) in its update.

However, the weather agency predicted the possibility of thunder and lightning, and strong winds of around 20-30 kmph during the day caused by the western disturbance from Afghanistan and its surrounding areas.

On Friday the morning minimum temperature settled at 28.2, two degrees above normal, whereas the relative humidity at 8:30 am recorded at 58 per cent.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature recorded at the Safdarjung weather observatory was 43.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the normal mark for this time of the year.

In other parts of the country, IMD forecasts a heatwave for parts of Rajasthan, Southern Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarpradesh.

"The maximum temperature over northwest and central India is unlikely to change significantly over the next 24 hours, it could fall by two to four degrees thereafter" said IMD. (UNI)
