An essay-writing competition was organized in Pune on Sunday at the spot where two IT professionals died after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding Porche allegedly driven by a minor.

The competition was the brainchild of social worker Changdeo Gite, who said he wished to highlight what many are calling the ‘preferential treatment’ of the minor, the son of a prominent builder.

Around 100 people, mostly 30-40 years olds, participated in the essay competition and were given the topics ‘What would I have done if my father was a builder’, ‘What would I do if I became a policeman’, ‘Ill effects of drinking’, ‘My favourite car’, ‘The law is the same for all’, ‘Today’s youth and their relation to addiction’, ‘How to build better roads to avoid accidents’, ‘Does India have equality in law’, and ‘My ideal Pune city’ to write on.

The teenager was initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board with very minor conditions, including asking him to write an essay on subject of accident. However, following a public outcry over the lenient treatment and a review application by the police, he was sent to an observation home till June 5.

Pune Police have arrest head of Forensics Department and a Sassoon Hospital doctor for switching blood samples of the accused to show no alcohol content during his medical test on May 19, reports said on Monday.

The police claim that the teenager was drunk at the time of the accident.

Earlier, the police have arrested the teenager's father Vishal Agarwal, and his grandfather Surendra Agarwal in connection with the accident.

His father was booked under the Juvenile Justice Act for "exposing a child to danger" by handing over the car to him while knowing that he had no driving license.

The teenage's grandfather was arrested for the 'illegal confinement' of the driver.
