New Delhi: Describing the alleged leakage of the CBSE class 10 and Class 12 board exams as ''unfortunate'', Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar on Thursday said the Government has instituted an internal inquiry into the matter and the culprits will be punished.Addressing reporters at a press conference to brief about the decisions of the Union Cabinet, Mr Javadekar said,''it was an unfortunate incident. I can understand the frustration and the anger of the students and their parents.

''The CBSE has earned a name for itself for conducting examinations which is why it was chosen to conduct the NEET examinations. This (leakage) incident is a breach on the reputation of the CBSE and we will not allow the culprits to go scot-free. I am confident that the Delhi Police will nab the culprits just like it arrested four people in the leakage of the SSC exams.''

Mr Javadekar said the government had also instituted an internal inquiry into the alleged breach in the CBSE examination system.''We have instituted an inquiry into the breach of the examination system. We must make all efforts to enure that the examinations go without any breach,'' he said.He said the CBSE will decide on the next course of action, including the dates for the retest of the exams.''We will take all steps to ensure that the system is foolproof. I want to assure all of you that the system will be improved and those guilty of the crime will be punished,'' he said. The CBSE had on Wednesday announced a retest for the class 10 Maths Board exam and the class 12 board exam in Economics.
