Yet another infiltration bid foiled, one militant killed, another injured in Uri

Srinagar: Troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) foiled yet another infiltration bid when they killed one militant and captured another in Uri sector in the north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Four soldiers were also injured in the encounter, official sources said.

However, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 15 Crops will address a press conference in the afternoon to share details about the operation.

Official sources said that troops noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) in Uri sector. When challenged on this side of the LoC by the alert Indian troops, militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. The Indian troops returned fire ensuing in an encounter.

One militant was killed and another was captured, they said adding four soldiers were also injured.

This was the third infiltration bid from POK since the night of September 18-19 when two soldiers were injured and militants fled from the area.

Later, three infiltrators were killed by the security forces in another area in Uri sector.

J&K: Two OGWs of LeT arrested in Pulwama, hideout busted in Srinagar

Security forces arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in Pulwama, while a hideout was unearthed in down town Srinagar, police said on Tuesday.

On a tip off Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police with the assistance of Pulwama police and 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) arrested two OGWs at Pulwama.

During their interrogation they revealed that a LeT commander Reyaz had asked them to build a hideout in Rajouri Kadal in the down town Srinagar, he said.

Later, based on the disclosure of OGWs, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched at Rajouri and the particular house was searched, he said, adding the hideout was unearthed but it was found to be empty.

The house owner was being questioned, he said adding further investigation is going on. (UNI)
