Mumbai: A professor from Patna who allegedly molested a woman doctor early on Wednesday on an IndiGo Airlines flight from Delhi to Mumbai was arrested by city police and later released on bail, officials said here on Friday.
According to officials, Prof. Rohit Shrivastava, 47, from Patna, and the 24-year-old woman doctor were seated next to each other on the flight that took off around 5.30 a.m. from New Delhi airport that day.
As per the victim’s complaint, the accused touched her inappropriately with malicious intent shortly before the flight was preparing to land at Mumbai Airport.
A complaint in this regard was made at Sahar Police Station, which registered a complaint of sexual harassment against the professor and arrested him under Sections. 354 and 354A of the IPC, said the official.
On Thursday, he was produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody and later granted him bail. (UNI)
