On a vibrant and high-octane evening on January 30, record 50,000 youth from 102 colleges from all over the state gathered at GITAM University to participate in EduYouth Meet with renowned spiritual master and humanitarian, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Organized by GITAM University and The Art of Living, this was also one of the largest youth gathering to take a pledge against drugs.

"We need to remind ourselves the world belongs to us," Gurudev said amidst cheering crowds, "I would encourage you, the youth, to start owning the world right now. You are the future of our planet. There are some hitches to this- one is drugs and another is stress. If we can just overcome these two bumps then your road to a bright future is very smooth. Then you can achieve your dreams, you can uplift the whole planet, whether it's taking care of the environment or economy."

Gurudev administered the pledge saying, "Today we are going take this vow, to say no to drugs! na karenge na karne denge."

Talking about an ideal campus, Gurudev said, "it is where everyone is happy, ofcourse there is no drugs, and no stress. A violence free society, disease free body, confusion free mind, illusion free intellect, trauma free memory is birth right of everyone. And a happy campus is where the weaker students sit beside the strong students without groupism. The strong person should take atleast one or 2 weak students with him or her and help them do better. By doing this we can really bring up the ancient ideal of sangachhadwam, (meaning-let's all move together."

Gurudev also asked the youth, "if you see a sad person don't just pass by them. Just talk to them, and ask them how they are doing. Ask them 'Is everything okay with you, what can I do for you?'" Gurudev added, "You are very very precious. Your life is precious. If you are not happy living for yourself. Remember You are here for the planet and We need you."

Prominent rock band Jammers also performed at the event.

"This is unprecedented," said Virat Chirania, Director, Art of Living Programs, "Gurudev is a spiritual icon of our times who has inspired millions of youth to succeed in life, with a smile. We are also happy to share this event is going to Asia Book of Records for being the largest gathering of youth in Andhra Pradesh, where students took a pledge for a Drug Free India."
