Chittoor:The first Additional District Court here has awarded Capital Punishment to accused Pathan Mohammad Rafi in the sensational rape and murder case of a six-year-old girl.
The accused attended a marriage function at Chenethanagar of Kurabalakota Mandal on November 7, 2019 and the girl had also attended with her parents.
Later Raffi abducted the girl Varshitha luring her with some eatables from the function hall, sexually assaulted her and strangled her to death before throwing her body into a 30-foot ditch.
First Additional District Judge Venkata Harinath sentenced Raffi to gallows on Monday.It was the first case under the POCSO Act in Chittoor district to be awarded the death sentence.

The Kurabalakota police had arrested the accused Rafi and charged him under the POCSO Act on November 16, 2019 after 10 days of the incident. Statements of 41witnesses were recorded in the case.(UNI)
