Kolkata: Mithun Chakraborty’s roadshow, scheduled for Behala in south Kolkata for the day was cancelled after the local police administration denied the permission, which led to the BJP supporters to gherao the Parnasree police station.

The Bollywood star was supposed to hold a roadshow today for BJP candidate Srabonti Chatterjee at Behala West where the Tollywood actress is pitted against TMC heavyweight and state education minister Partha Chatterjee.

After denial of the roadshow permission, Many BJP supporters were seen to have gathered in front of Parnasree police station in south Kolkata, which originally falls under South 24 Parganas district.

Mithun Chakraborty was supposed to hold roadshows for BJP candidates Srabonti Chatterjee and Payal Sarkar, both are Tollywood stars, at Behala West and Behala East.

The BJP also alleged that the local police administration also denied the door-to-door canvassing in the area for the party members. BJP leader Sayantan Bose has condemned the denial said the police administration was still under the influence of the TMC.

Seventy-one-year-old Mithun Charkaborty’s roadshows have been hit across West Bengal and wherever he goes people in thousands follow him to chant Jay Shree Ram.

However, in a rare speech at Pandua in Hooghly this week Mithun Chakbraborty said why he was on the campaign trail and why he was not contesting Bengal elections.

“I have told my big boss in New Delhi that I need to have some basic things to be delivered for the poor people in rural Bengal which is my dream for so long years,” Mithun Chakraborty spelt details after that.

“I want few basic things for my rural people like to have air conditioned facility for all the general indoor patients across West Bengal and reduction of tariff for electricity,”

“If my baby can have air-conditioned during the birth then all the poor women and mothers should have such a facility in the general hospitals,” he said.

Mithun Chakraborty also lambasted the TMC government for not extending the Ayushman Bharat scheme into the state.

“I would say state government Satha Sathi is good but what is the harm if the central government health scheme was extended in the state.” He said the card for Ayushman Bharat is valid across India with Rs 5 lakh health insurance value. (UNI)
