Advani's outburst in the LS chamber over house disruption takes all by surprise

Advani's outburst in the LS chamber over house disruption takes all by surprise
, Wednesday, 7 December 2016 (15:42 IST)
New Delhi: The Lok Sabha chamber today witnessed an unusual scene as veteran BJP leader L K Advani gave full vent to his anger over the disruption of the House on demonetisation ever since the Winter Session began on November 16, holding both the Government and the Opposition responsible for it. Mr Advani's outburst came after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan announced adjournment of the House at 1245 hrs, the second time today, following the Opposition ruckus over the rejection of their demand for debate on demonetisation under a Rule that entails voting.

Mr Advani asked other members when the House would meet again. When he was told that the House had been adjourned again till 1400 hrs, he said it was shameful that the House was not conducting any business. ''Neither the Speaker, nor the Parliamentary Affairs Minister wants to run the House. The House is just running on its own,'' he said.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar tried to pacify him stating that it was because of the Opposition stand that the House was facing disruptions, but he countered Mr Kumar, saying both the Government and the Opposition were to be blamed for the present situation in the House. He also said he would have no hesitation in saying this outside the chamber too.

Realizing the sensitivity of the situation, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs S S Ahluwalia came up to Mr Advani and succeeded in taking him out of the House Meanwhile, Mr Kumar rushed to the Speaker's chamber to discuss the situation. Later, when he came out, he told reporters that Mr Adavi had great regard for the Speaker, and he was frustrated over the behavior of the Opposition. (UNI)
