Another Bengali model found dead in Kolkata, 3rd suicide in 2 weeks

Bengali model Manjusha Niyogi was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in her Kolkata apartment on Friday morning. This is the second celebrity suicide reported in the city in three days, third in two weeks.

Manjusha's body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death, a police officer said.

The model's mother claimed that she was suffering from acute depression after the death of her close friend, Bidisha De Majumdar.

Bidisha was found hanging in her rented apartment in Kolkata's Northern suburb Dum Dum.

Bidisha De Majumder's body was recovered by her neighbours after breaking open the door of the flat in Ramgarh Colony of Nagerbazar under North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday evening.

A note found near the body said she was taking the extreme step following a lack of career opportunities, the police said.

A fortnight ago, a serial actress Pallavi Dey was also found hanging from the ceiling at her South Kolkata flat. (Inputs from agencies)
