AP Govt extends COVID-19 curfew till May 31

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government has decided to extend the COVID-19 curfew till May 31.

The state government had imposed a 14-day Covid curfew on May 5 to check the massive spread of Coronavirus positive cases.

The COVID-19 curfew is at present being enforced for 18 hours with relaxation from 6 am to 12 noon.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting on the Covid pandemic situation with the officials.

Speaking on the occasion, he announced the extension of COVID-19 curfew till the end of this month.

He said that to yield the expected results, four weeks Covid curfew should be implemented.

Mr Reddy said “It has been 13 days since the Covid curfew was imposed in the state and to yield the expected results, there should be at least a 4 week COVID-19 curfew.

The Covid curfew timings will remain unchanged”, he added.

The Chief Minister said that a fever survey is being conducted in the state and directed the officials to provide treatment and medicines to those who were tested positive for Coronavirus.

He asked the officials to improve the facilities at the Covid care centres.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that so far 9 black fungus cases had been identified and the Mr Reddy asked the officials to be alert on the black fungus disease.

He directed the officials to provide free medical treatment to the black fungus patients under Aarogyasri scheme.

Mr Reddy also asked the officials to formulate a protocol to identify the black fungus in patients and also identify the hospitals for treating the patients.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to utilize the services of volunteers, ASHA workers and secretariat system to contain the spread of Covid cases in the rural areas.

He also directed the officials to take steps to protect the children of those who have lost their parents with Coronavirus.

Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, Chief Secretary Adityanath Das and DGP Gautham Sawang were among a host of officials who were present. (UNI)
