Pathanamthitta: A police case has been filed against former Kerala Minister K T Jaleel for describing Jammu and Kashmir as "Indian-occupied" and for calling the Kashmir with Pakistan as "Azad Kashmir", informed sources said on Wednesday.

The police took the action following an order from the Thiruvalla First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

The MLA later withdrew his statement, saying his remarks have been misinterpreted.

The withdrawal followed a complaint filed against him in a police station in Delhi alleging his statement led to communal tension and questioned the integrity and sovereignty of India.

Opposition leader in the Kerala Assembly V D Satheesan accused Jameel of using Pakistani language to describe Jammu and Kashmir.

Satheesan asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to clarify his stand on Jameel's statement. (UNI)
