Tirupati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was detaned by police at Renigunta Airport near here on Monday.

Police detained Mr Naidu at the Airport and not allowed him to take up agitations at various places in this district.

Condemning the police act, the Opposition leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly staged a sit-in protest inside the arrival lounge of the Airport and wanted the police to allow him to express their right of protest against ruling YSRCP's atrocities at his party workers.

He also questioned the police as to why he was being stopped from attending his programmes though he had served as Chief Minister for 14 years and now the leader of the opposition in the state.

With the police have served arrest notice to the TDP National President, tension prevailed outside the Airport where hundreds of TDP workers gathered on hearing the news and resorted to agitation condemning the detaining of their leader.

Police had a tough time for controlling the TDP activists.
