Theni: In a bizarre incident, a 35-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two children before 'committing suicide' over financial crisis at Santhipuram village under Varushanadu police limits in Theni district on Monday.
The bodies of N. Andhichiammal and her daughter N. Kaavya (17), a Class 12 student, were found on an agricultural land, while her son N. Krishnakumar (15), a Class 9 student, was battling for life, police said.
The woman, who separated from her husband over a domestic feud, was living with her two children. She borrowed huge money from neighbours and others to run the family.
Due to mounting debts and unable to repay the dues, the woman took the 'extreme step'. Andhichiammal after poisoning her children consumed the same. However, police did not find a suicide note.
Krishnakumar was undergoing treatment at Theni Government Medical College Hospital.
The Varushanadu police have registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and are investigating. (UNI)
