Kolhapur: The first day of auspicious Navratri festival started on a tense note for the Shree Mahalaxmi Mandir after a bomb threat was received for the temple here on Thursday.
An unidentified caller called the police headquarters, saying that explosives were planted at the temple.
Immediately swinging into action, a bomb disposal team and a dog squad were scrambled to the religious site and a frantic search for the bomb was initiated.
Simultaneously, a large number of devotees who queued for ‘darshan’ were stopped at the instant by the temple management.
After a relentless one-and-half hour-long search, no explosives were found and the temple was given green light for resuming ‘darshan’.
Further probe into the matter is underway. (UNI)
