High frequency Pak’s FM channel signals put security agencies on tenterhooks

High frequency Pak’s FM channel signals put security agencies on tenterhooks

Jammu: While an alert has already been sounded by the security agencies after mobile signals of Pakistan telecom operators were seen flashing on cell phones on this side of the border, the high frequency Pakistani radio FM channels being heard in Jammu outskirts is keeping the intelligence agencies on tenterhooks.

The signals of radio channels are being caught on mobile phones, music systems in cars and radio sets while travelling from Sidhra-Kunjwani ByPass road and the Pakistani programmes can be clearly heard by the listeners.

Moreover, the frequency of these FM channels is so high that the locally heard FM channels in Jammu faces disruptions when tuned in in this stretch irking the radio lovers.

Intelligence sources here told UNI that the key reason behind catching high frequency of Pakistani radio channels is allegedly an open sale of locally made ‘Satellite Dish’, easily available at shops even at grocery stores in some of the nearby locations.

“Though the government has banned the sale of these ‘satellite dishes’ but still, can be purchased easily from shops located in city outskirts especially in the areas adjoining Sidhra-Kujwani Bye Pass stretch,” sources said and rued that in the recent past two months, Jammu police has done a tremendous job by averting major tragedies with the arrest of over ground workers (OGWs) of Pakistan based terrorist outfits and recovery of large quantity of arms and ammunition.

However, the talk shows, entertainment shows, advertisements, news, songs and many other programmes, being broadcast from Sialkot, Lahore and Islamabad, can be clearly heard with a mention of locations and mobile phones.

“One of the major worries is that Army areas, police stations, police training academy and other establishments are also located in Sidhra-Kujwani ByPass stretch,” sources added and said that some anti-national or anti-social elements, using these high frequency radio channels to pass on vital and confidential information across, cannot be ruled out.

Pertinent to mention here that the intelligence agencies had earlier also issued an alert, saying Pakistan is trying to resurrect terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir and might enhance its mobile coverage in Jammu and Kashmir.

They also claimed that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), along with Khalistani terrorists, is also planning to carry out attacks across India, especially in Punjab, New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.

“Besides mobile signals, increased frequency of radio channels with a motive or malafide intention by the Pakistan could not be ignored,” they said and added that immediate curb on this exercise is needed and monitoring on open sale of locally made ‘satellite dish’ (name not disclosed), is also required timely to prevent an untoward like incident in future.
