Maharajganj: A suspected terrorist of Hizbul-Mujahideen has been nabbed by the sleuths of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) while trying to tress-pass the Sonauli along the Indo-Nepal border. The suspected terrorist was arrested yesterday after the Intelligence agencies provided the inputs to SSB. The agencies had also alerted UP Police of a possible terror attack in the upcoming 'Bara Mangal' function in Lucknow.
Sources here said that the suspect, hailing from Pakistan and identified as Nasir, was nabbed while trying to tress-pass the Indian side along with another person. However, his companion fled to Nepal and was absconding. The arrested has been taken to Delhi by the ATS for interrogation, sources said. Security personnel also confirmed that the accused was a Kashmiri who migrated to Pakistan in 2005.
Meanwhile, the accused has confessed that he was an active member of terror organisation Hizbul Mujahideen and even received three-month military training by the terror outfit. Sources said that the accused wanted to return to Kashmir to train youths and even to send some of them to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) for military training.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Maharajganj, Pramod Kumar, said that Nasir had reached Kathmandu after visiting Dubai from Pakistan. Nasir was also slated to stay in Gorakhpur for a couple of days. (UNI)
