Illegal sand mining: Constable mowed down to death in Karnataka’s Kalaburgi, SP breaks down while addressing media (VIDEO)

Kalaburagi: In a shocking incident, a police constable was killed after a sand mafia ran a tractor on him who tried to stop him from illegal sand mining in Narayanapura village in Kalaburagi district in Karnataka.
 
The incident took place at around 10 pm on Thursday when the constable, identified as Mayura Chauhan (51), was on patrol to check illegal sand mining on the banks of Bhima river, the police said.
 
The case has been registered under sections 302, 333, 307, 379, 504, and 506 of IPC against those who killed head constable Chauhan on June 15.
 
Soon after mowing down the constable, the mafia fled the scene of the crime. This incident filled Kalaburagi SP Isha Pant with emotions and shed tears before the media at the press conference.

RDPR Minister Priyank Kharge has given strict orders to the police to take stringent action against illegal sand mining.
 
The police have already arrested the prime accused who ran the tractor on Chauhan, SP Isha said. Further investigation is underway. (UNI)
