ISIS terrorist arrested in Jammu with pistol, rounds, cash

Jammu:The sleuths of special operation group(SOG) in a major operation along with Jammu Police have arrested one terrorist of the listed terror outfit, Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir, a branch of global terror organisation ISIS with one pistol, 8 rounds and cash worth rupees 1.13 lakhs thereby averted terror attack by the outfit.
Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh here said that on the basis of specific input, SOG Jammu laid a naka at Jhajjar Kotli on city outskirts During checking of vehicles at around 1900 hours, one person tried to flee from the spot but was chased and apprehended, said the top cop.
 
He asserted that cash, one pistol and 8 rounds concealed in a bag he was carrying, was recovered from him.
 
Mr Singh added that during enquiry, the accused has been identified as Malik Umaid alias Abdullah of Yaripora, Kulgam, who had received a delivery of weapon and cash to further carry out terror strike in JK UT.
 
A case has been registered and investigation started in this case and investigation is taken up.
During initial investigation it has been found that arrested terrorist was in touch with more operatives of the ISJK module, he said adding that further investigation of the case is in progress.
 
Militants, their supporters in J&K will not be spared: Lt Guv Manoj Sinha
 
 Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that militants and their supporters will not be spared in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
“We need to take inspiration from the families of the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the nation. On this day, we also need to resolve that militants and their supporters will not be spared,” Mr Sinha said while addressing a function to felicitate the next of kins (NoKs) of slain policemen and soldiers at S K International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the Dal banks on Sunday.
 
Mr Sinha said that word fall short in paying tributes to the policemen and soldiers who sacrificed their lives either fighting militancy or protecting borders. “It is because of their great sacrifices, we are breathing in free air today. We salute all the brave men from the police and the army who were martyred in the line of duty,” he added.
 
The Lt Governor said that the J&K government is working on a ‘new educational policy to incorporate contributions’ by J&K Police and Indian Army personnel who have died fighting militants, in the school curriculum.
 
“We are doing this so that our children come to know about their supreme sacrifices. Our children should know that it is because of them, they are reaping peace dividends in J&K,” he added.(UNI)
