ITBP jawan shoots self and 5 colleagues, CM orders inquiry

Narayanpur: In a bloodcurdling incident of fratricidal firing, gunfire rang out early Wednesday at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police's Kadenar camp in this insurgency-ravaged district ? as a constable discharged a weapon instantly killing five personnel and himself.  
   

Two critically-injured jawans were rushed to a nearby infirmary where preparations were underway to convey them to Raipur. Confirming the ghastly development, Inspector General (Bastar Range) P Sundrraj said, "A dispute sparked off the incident."(UNI)
 
Bhupesh orders inquiry into shootout between ITBP jawans
 
Raipur:Describing death of six jawans in Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) camp in a shootout
between them in Narayan district of Chhattisgarh as extremely tragic and unfortunate, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has ordered inquiry into the incident.
 
Talking to the reporters here today Mr Baghel said that inquiry should be conducted to know how come this incident occurred. It is also necessary to ascertained whether the jawan who opened fire had applied for leave, or was under stress due to family reasons or any another reasons, he said. He instructed to take necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the camps of central or state police forces in Naxal-infested areas of the state.
 
Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said that Bastar Inspector General of and Superintendent of Police were instructed to reach the spot. A helicopter was dispatched to bring the security personnel for treatment, he said. According to preliminary reports, five jawans died on spot while another jawan succumbed to injuries during treatment. Two other jawans too were injured in the incident. The deceased included jawan who opened fire and then shot himself.
 
According to reports received in the state headquarters, a jawan fired on his fellow jawans, killing five of them, and injuring two other jawans. Later he also shot himself. Director General of Police DM Awasthi himself is monitoring the entire situation. He has also discussed with the top officers of ITBP and other central forces and ordered to bring the injured jawans to capital immediately.(UNI)
