Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist arrested with arms, ammunition in Doda

Jammu: Security forces have arrested one terrorist along with arms and ammunition in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh on Monday said Police team alongwith security forces have arrested one terrorist with one Chinese pistol, two Magazine,14 live cartridges and one mobile phone.

Arrested terrorist was identified as Fareed Ahmed, resident of Koti, district Doda.

"As an heightened security measure before the Amarnath yatra, Police Party laid a naka on the outskirts of the Town and intercepted a man carrying arms and ammunition," said Singh.

He further added that the accused was taken into custody and a special team started investigation into the matter and it has come to fore that Fareed Ahmad received arms and ammunition from one suspect during month of March-2022 and he was tasked to attack police personnel in Doda.

However, due to timely and swift action Doda Police foiled this nefarious plot.

A case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Doda and investigation has been taken up.

"Initial investigation revealed that subject is highly radicalised and used to receive calls from terror commanders based across the border and was motivated to work for terror outfits in Kashmir valley and Doda region," the ADGP said.

He said that further investigation into the matter is in progress. (UNI)
