Palampur: A 21-year-old girl student was seriously injured in a Baizer incident at the Palampur bus stand, allegedly attacked by a youth with a sharp-edged weapon.
Kangra district Superintendent of Police Shailini Agnihotri told UNI on Saturday that a 28-year-old multipurpose worker, Summit, from Nagrota Bagwan, attacked a 21-year-old college girl in Palampur with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in her serious injury. The incident occurred at the Palampur bus stand.
Local people nabbed the attacker, Summit, and thrashed him.
SSP Shailini Agnihotri further said that the accused youth was arrested under Section 307 of the IPC for an attempt to murder.
The investigation revealed that the boy had been in contact with the girl for six years, but now she distanced herself and stopped calling Summit, which angered the accused, who attacked the girl.
The entire scene was recorded on CCTV, where the youth attacked the girl ten times before being subsequently nabbed by others.
The girl was taken to Palampur hospital, where she was referred to Tanda Medical College, and then she was subsequently referred to PGI Chandigarh.
SSP said the fingers of her hand were damaged in the attack; however, her condition is out of danger now.
