Deoria: Cremation of the Border Security Force (BSF) Head Constable Prem Sagar was performed here today at his native village with Full State Honours amid presences of thousands of people including several politicians and district officials. Prem Sagar was killed and mutilated by Pakistani Army military in the Poonch sector of Indo-Pakistani border.

The martyr's family yesterday had refused to perform the last rites, demanding that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visit them. Though, the Uttar Pradesh CM wasn't able to meet the aggrieved family in person but spoke to them on phone last night after which they agreed to hold the last rites. Uttar Pradesh Government had sent State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, who represents Deoria, yesterday to meet the family and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 30-lakh to the family of the martyr.

The BSF martyr's body was taken to his native Tikampur village in Bhatparrani area yesterday amid strong anti-Pakistan sentiments marking the last journey of the slain BSF Head Constable. People thronged to pay a tearful farewell to the braveheart who was beheaded by Pakistani forces in Poonch sector. The people showered petals on the body as a mark of respect. Seeking revenge for the barbaric killing of her father, the daughter of Prem Sagar, Saroj, has demanded strong action from the Indian side. (UNI)
