Man held for raping daughter in law, sent to judicial custody

Kendarapara: The Rajnagar police today arrested a 50 year old man who was later sent to jail custody by a local court for raping his daughter in law.Rajnagar police station IIC Sukant Kumar Patra said Khirod Bhadra was arrested after the victim lodged FIR with the police alleging that Khirod Bhadra had raped her several times in the past one and a half years by gagging her mouth and tying her hand.


The 22-year old woman, had tied nuptial knot with one Khageswar Bhadra on last April 2016. Her husband returned to his work place at Hyderabad by leaving her at the house.She said after some days of their marriage. her father-in-law, who was staying with her in the house, started raping her finding alone at the house.The woman said she was forced to remain silent as her father-in-law threatened her to kill her and her parents, if she disclosed the matter to anybody.

She even brought her sorry plight before her husband Khageswar Bhadra over telephone, but her husband all the time asked her not to take any step and wait for his return to home.A couple of days back, her husband returned to the house and she narrated the ordeal before him but to her dismay Khageswar did not take any steps.

The victim woman finally showed courage and approached the local police and filed a complaint against her father-in-law.Acting on the FIR, Rajnagar police registered a case under Section 376(2)(f)(k)(n), 506 of IPC against the accused father-in-law and arrested the rapist from the house and sent him for medical test at Rajnagar CHC.The accused father in law was produced before the Rajnagar JMFC court on Sunday with the offences of rape and molestation under various section of IPC .

The court remanded him into jail custody after rejecting his bail petition .The victim woman, the police said will be sent for medical examination to District Head Quarter Hospital on Monday.(UNI)
