Odisha: Youth arrested for allegedly impregnating a mentally disabled girl in Kendrapara

Kendrapada: Police have arrested a 22-year-old youth for allegedly raping and impregnating a mentally disabled girl in Kendrapara Sadar police station area.

Police sources on Thursday said Manas Ranjan Samal, the accused was arrested on Wednesday after the father of the victim lodged a complainant with the Police.

Acting on the FIR, police registered a case against the accused under 376 and 506 of IPC and arrested the accused youth, said Kendrapada Sadar police station IIC Saroj Kumar Sahu.

A medical check up of the victim revealed the girl was five-month pregnant, stated police sources.

The accused was produced in a local court on Wednesday and he was remanded to jail custody, after his bail plea was rejected, the IIC said. (UNI)
