Hoshiarpur: In a twisted tale of fate, a contract killer was murdered after, apparently in a drunken state when he revealed to the ''killer'' that he has got a contract to kill him.
SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal, on Thursday, told media that this was revealed by two suspects arrested in a blind murder case.
He said that a decomposed body was found on April 13 in the forest area of village Bharatpur Jogian. His hands were chopped off, there was no wallet or mobile found from the spot, so it was difficult to ascertain his identity. Later, the man was identified as Amit Kumar.
Police arrested Harpal Singh and Kundal Lal on suspicion and during the interrogation they spilled the beans.
Mr Chahal said Harpal told the police that Amit, in a drunken state, had told him that he had got a contract to kill him by a woman who suspected that Harpal was responsible for the death of her husband. Amit sought to blackmail Harpal and asked him to shell out Rs 70,000 and he would spare his life. Harpal agreed to pay and later Harpal and Kundan Lal took Amit to the spot on the pretext of giving him the money.
According to police, there they killed him by strangulating him and to hide his identity they took his wallet, mobile phone and also chopped off his hands. (UNI)
