Bengaluru: In a recent development in Karnataka's political arena, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has leveled serious allegations against JDS MLA HD Revanna, citing past misbehaviour during a visit to England, echoing claims made by LR Shivarame Gowda, former Mandya MP and BJP leader.
According to Shivakumar, Revanna was reportedly ousted from a hotel room during his visit to England.
Allegedly, he engaged in a heated argument with the hotel staff, claiming his status as the son of the former Prime Minister, but was ultimately forced to vacate the premises. Shivakumar vowed to gather further details on the incident once he concludes his ongoing campaign activities.
These allegations against Revanna come amidst a legal storm surrounding him and his son, Prajwal. Revanna has been implicated in a case of kidnapping related to an "obscene video" incident. The complaint, filed by the son of a woman allegedly victimised in the video, accused Revanna and an associate of abduction and sexual abuse.
The FIR, registered by the KR Nagar police, lists Revanna and his associate as primary suspects. These legal troubles compound as Revanna failed to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning, despite a summons issued on May 2.
Moreover, both Revanna and Prajwal are under scrutiny by a Special Investigative Team formed by the Karnataka government over allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation by a former household worker.
Responding to rumours of internal strife within the Vokkaliga community's leadership, Shivakumar attributed such speculations to external political agendas, asserting that he stands as a leader elected by the Congress party, without emphasising any specific community leadership.
Addressing claims of JDS MLAs defecting to Congress, Shivakumar dismissed these assertions as baseless, denouncing them as mere speculation without any factual basis.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara disclosed that a second lookout notice has been issued against both Revanna and Prajwal, suggesting potential travel abroad amid ongoing legal proceedings. The duo has been given a deadline to respond to these notices.
