Banda (UP): The Senior Superintendent of the Banda district Jail has been threatened with dire consequences after the death of mafia-turned-politician and former MLA leader Mukhtar Ansari, a police officer said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lakshmi Niwas Mishra said that a case of threat was registered and a detailed investigation was started immediately. He said that security has been provided to the Senior Jail Superintendent.
He said that in the case registered at Banda Nagar Kotwali on Sunday night, Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma has alleged that on March 28 night he received a call on his CUG number during which the unidentified caller used abusive language and threatened him of dire consequences.
He said that after this the senior police and administrative officials were informed and a demand was made to provide adequate security. "At present, vigil has been stepped up in the jail premises as well," he said.
