Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, MP has filed a defamation case against Republic TV news anchor Arnab Goswami for 'unfairly' linking him to his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death in a hotel suite in New Delhi in 2014. Chief Judicial Magistrate P V Aneesh Kumar posted the case for July 20 for further hearing. Mr Tharoor told the court that Mr Goswami had deliberately sullied his image to increase the ratings for the newly launched television channel.
The TV anchor used the 'vilest language' to insinuate that he had some dubious role in her death. The Delhi police had not concluded that there was any crime involved, he noted. He sought action against Mr Goswami to prevent those media persons who often act with impunity as police, judge and executioner. (UNI)
