New Delhi: Suspended Congress MP from Patiala Preneet Kaur joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Thursday ahead of the Lok Sabha Election.

She joined the party in the presence of BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawade, Tarun Chug, BJP State President, and Party's Punjab President Sunil Kumar Jakhar and other senior leaders.

Talking to the media after joining the party, Preneet Kaur said, "I will work for my state and the country under the leadership of PM Modi'.

"I had a good innings with the Congress party and I hope I'll have a better innings with the BJP", she added.

Preneet Kaur, wife of former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, was suspended by the Congress in February 2023 on the allegations of engaging in activities contrary to the party's interests.

Since then, Preneet had openly aligned herself with the saffron party in her stronghold of Patiala.
