New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal today wrote a letter to the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley urging him to make sanitary napkins tax free. "As per the GST schedule for goods, sanitary napkins have been taxed at 12 per cent. It's taxation denies access to poor women as they can't afford it," she stated in her letter. Ms Maliwal wrote, "I wish to communicate the recommendation of DCW to make sanitary napkins completely tax free.

One decision of the Centre shall positively impact and improve the health and hygiene of millions of women." "I am confident that you (Jaitley) will take a considerate view of the matter and issue necessary directions for the same," Ms Maliwal asserted. (UNI)
