Prayagraj: The Prayagraj police have anounced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 on Shaista Parveen, one of the accused in advocate Umesh Pal murder case and wife of mafia-turned-politician and former MP Atique Ahmed, a police officer said here on Sunday.

Incharge of Dhoomanganj police station Rajesh Kumar Maurya said Umesh Pal, the main accused in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal, and his two gunners were killed on February 24. "Umesh's wife Jaya Pal had lodged a named complaint against Atique, his wife Shaista, brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf, two sons, accomplices Guddu Muslim, Ghulam Mohammad and nine unidentified persons," he said.

Maurya said Shaista was absconding after the murder of Umesh Pal. "The UP police had already declared a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on the arrest on five accused, including Atique's son Asad, Guddu Muslim, Ghulam, Sabir and Arman. A reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on the arrest of Shaista Parveen on Saturday after her video with one of the shooters, Sabir surfaced," he said.

He said that Atique's two sons Umar and Ali Ahmed were already lodged in the jail and the third one Asad was absconding in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.

It may be noted that Shaista has filed a case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) accusing the police of missing both her minor sons Ehjam Ahmed and Aban Ahmed. She has requested that both of them should be produced before the court.

The court had sought a report from the Incharge of Dhoomanganj police station and the Child Protection Officer (CPO) on March 10. While the police has submitted its report, the CPO is yet to submit the same.

District Government Counsel (DGC) Gulab Chandra Agrahari said as the court of CJM Dinesh Gautam was vacant, the case was heard by the incharge CJM. He said the court has given a clear order that it should be told in which child protection home the children have been kept.

The court had ordered the CPO to submit the report by March 13. (UNI)
