Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president and Leader of the Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly shared a video purportedly of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator playing card game inside the house.
After some time SP shared video of another MLA claiming him to be a legislator of the ruling party chewing pan masala and tobacco inside the during the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature which concluded on Friday.
Though the legislators could not be identified from the viral video, it seems that the video has apparently been shot by the BJP MLAs sitting on benches behind the legislators. Though it cannot be verified independently, the assembly staff said that the two MLAs belonged to the ruling party.
Even as the Speaker officer has maintained a silence on the issue, Samajwadi Party (SP) and its president Akhilesh Yadav has taken it as a chance to attack the government.
While sharing the video, SP chief Akhilesh tweeted, "BJP MLAs are playing cards in the UP Vidhan Sabha session and are destroying the state. Thanks to BJP MLAs who worked in public interest by making this video from behind and making it viral. It has to be seen that when will the Chief Minister's 'moral bulldozer will move on the MLA?."
Sharing a series of videos, SP tweeted, "BJP MLAs are tarnishing the dignity of the house. BJP MLA from Mahoba playing mobile game in the house, BJP MLA from Jhansi chewing tobacco. These people do not have answers on the issues related to the public and consider the house as a place of entertainment. Very deplorable and shameful."
When contacted for comment one of the MLAs refused to say anything. The other one cannot be contacted even after repeated attempts. (UNI)
