Violence in Kolhapur over social media post on Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan, Internet services suspended

Kolhapur: As the 'Kolhapur bandh' called by Hindutvawadi Sanghatanas to protest against the social media post on Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan by some members of a community turned violent on Wednesday, the Home department of the Maharashtra government issued an order to suspend of all types of internet services and SMS service from 1700 hours to 0000 hours of Thursday midnight to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain law and order situation in the city.

As the situation deteriorated, district collector Rahul Rekhavar had demanded to the goverment to suspend internet services.

Following which, the state's Home department issued an order to suspend all kinds of internet services and SMS service from Wednesday evening to Thursday midnight to avoid any untoward incident in the city. (UNI)
