Sheopur (MP): A female cheetah ‘Daksha’ died at Kuno National Park on Tuesday – the third such fatality over a period spanning approximately a couple of months, Forest Department sources confirmed.

The carnivore, which was among eight brought from Namibia and released into the Park by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 last year, succumbed to multiple injuries. Prima facie, it is suspected that they were sustained either during a violent interaction or mating.

Two male cheetahs were recently released into the same enclosure. Tuesday morning, a monitoring team observed that the animal was injured. Autopsy was conducted by experts.

A dozen cheetahs from South Africa were brought to Kuno this year and four cubs were born to one animal recently. (UNI)
