“A picnic at beach” was the last outing for these 8 Engineering students

Belagavi: Eight students of Marata Mandal Engineering College here, drowned off the Malvar Vayiri beach in Sindadurga in Maharashtra today. According to reports reaching here, the bodies of eight students, including five boys and three girls, were recovered and search is on to recover the bodies of others drowned.
 

About 60 students had gone on an annual excursion to Maharashtra along with Principal and Lecturers and due to scorching heat they went to beach to have a bath when the incident took place. While three students were rescued by fishermen, 11 students swam to safety.

The rescued students were under medical observation. The bodies of eight students have been identified as Sanketh (20), Aniketh (21), Santosh (19), Ujamen (20), Anitha (22), Kiran (22), Mahesh (23) and Mujameen (20). Further details are awaited. (UNI)
