Abhimanyu Easwanran Bengal vs UP Ranji Trophy : Despite being consistently overlooked by Indian selectors, Bengal's top order batter Abhimanyu Easwaran is showcasing his exceptional skills day by day. In his first match of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 against Uttar Pradesh, Easwaran once again displayed his extraordinary talent by scoring a brilliant century. This marks his fourth century in the last four matches. He was in excellent form during the recently concluded Duleep and Irani Trophy, where he amassed significant runs for his teams.

His scores in the last 10 innings: 127*, 191, 116, 19, 157*, 13, 4, 200*, 72, and 65.

Easwaran has over 7,500 runs in First Class cricket and is regarded as one of the finest opening batsmen in the country. He previously scored consecutive centuries in the second and third matches of the Duleep Trophy and followed that up with an impressive 191 runs for Rest of India in the Irani Cup. With a batting average of 160 over his last eight innings and 133.86 in his last ten, Easwaran's form is undeniably at its peak.

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s exceptional performance continues in the Ranji Trophy, prompting fans to urge the board to consider him as a reserve opener for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. His latest century serves as a strong response to the selectors, who did not include him in the New Zealand Test series, opting instead for Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the only openers. Easwaran has effectively cemented his place ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad for the India vs Australia Border Gavaskar Test series.

There are concerns that captain Rohit Sharma may miss one of the first two Test matches in Australia due to personal reasons, as he has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The Indian team is set to play the first match of the five-Test series in Australia starting November 22 in Perth and there’s a possibility that Rohit may not be available for the first Test or the second match in Adelaide, scheduled for December 6-10.

While Easwaran is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for another call-up, the BCCI is also seeking backup batters increasing the likelihood that Abhimanyu may get an opportunity in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Easwaran was included in the squad against South Africa in 2023 but did not make it to the playing XI.
