Jakarta:India who have always dominated Kabaddi at the Asian Games since its inception at the Beijing  in 1990 will keep the momentum to continue at the multi-sporting event beginning from Saturday. 
India has a record of winning 7 golds from 1990 to 2014 at the Asian Games.Veteran Kabaddi coach and Arjuna Awardee,  Ram Mehar Singh has been entrusted to coach the National Men's Kabaddi Team due to participate at the Jakarta Asian Games 2018 that opens from August 18  are all set to further scale up the competitive spirit of kabaddi under his guidance.
 
The action-packed kabaddi matches here will witness a total of 12 kabaddi powerhouse national teams competing for the ultimate glory.The Indian Kabaddi Team for Jakarta Asian Games looks incredible with star raiders that include Dubki King Pardeep Narwal, Captain Ajay Thakur, Rishank Devadiga, Rohit Kumar, Rahul Chaudhari, Gangadhari Mallesh and Monu Goyat while Mohit Chillar, Raju Lal Chaudhary, and Girish Ernak as three experienced defenders. 
 
Deepak Hooda and Sandeep Narwal are the two all-rounders on the team while Maninder Singh and Amit Nagar are the two stand-by players.As a player, Singh's impeccable contribution in the 1998 Asian Games saw the team win a gold. Subsequently, in the 2002 Asian Games, he captained the team successfully to add another gold medal to the tally.
 
He was conferred with the Arjuna Award for his outstanding performance at the 2002 Asian Games in Kabaddi. He was also decorated with the prestigious Bhim Award by the Haryana Government as a recognition for his exemplary dedication towards kabaddi.Singh has successfully lead Patna Pirates to three consecutive championship titles in the Pro Kabaddi League during January 2016, June 2016 and 2017.
 
Ram Mehar Singh continues to play an active role in developing the game. He started coaching the Air Force and Services team in 2004 mentoring them to three national championship wins. He has also served as the national selector for a period of 5 years.(UNI)
