In a momentous turn of events, Bangladesh has secured their first-ever Test victory over Pakistan, clinching the match by 10 wickets at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The historic win, achieved with a session to spare, is highlighted by the outstanding performances of Bangladesh's key players: Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim.

The match was set up by a masterful display of spin bowling from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan. The duo shared seven wickets between them, dismantling Pakistan's batting lineup with precision and flair.
Mehidy’s spell of 11.5-2-21-4 included key wickets such as Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha, while Shakib contributed 17-3-44-3, claiming crucial scalps including Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel. Their relentless pressure was instrumental in Pakistan’s collapse to 146, after resuming the final day at 30 for one.

The foundation for Bangladesh’s triumph was laid by an extraordinary innings from Mushfiqur Rahim. His 191 was a tour de force of concentration and skill, guiding Bangladesh to a towering first-innings total of 565 and a 117-run lead.

Rahim’s monumental effort, which earned him the Player of the Match award, was supported by solid contributions from Shadman Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das, and Mominul Haque, all of whom played pivotal roles in building a formidable total.

As Pakistan’s second innings faltered, Bangladesh needed just 30 runs to secure victory, which they achieved without losing a wicket. The win is not only a historic milestone for Bangladesh but also a significant setback for Pakistan, extending their home win drought to 9 Tests and casting a shadow over their ICC World Test Championship hopes.(UNI)
