Chennai: Mr K Viswanathan, father of five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand, died here on Thursday after a brief illness.
He was 92.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Mr Viswanathan, a former General Manager of the Southern Railway, breathed his last at a city hospital, family sources said.
Anand’s wife Aruna described him as a great support to Anand and had witnessed his all world championship wins. (UNI)
