COVID 19 effect: IPL matches can be truncated says Ganguly

Mumbai: After Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed from March 29 to April 15, due to Coronavirus threat, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said whether the cash-rich league will be pruned in terms of days or matches remains to be seen.

After the IPL Governing Council meet here, Ganguly told reporters whether the IPL will be truncated in terms of days or matches remains to be seen.

Speaking on the shortening of the IPL, he said, “If it is postponed till April 15, then it in any case 15 days are gone, so it has to be truncated one.” “How truncated, how many games I can’t say at the moment.”

Earlier, on Saturday, the BCCI met the league franchises owners here to discuss the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and its impact on the upcoming season, especially keeping safety of the spectators in mind. (UNI)
