Denmark Open: Saina Nehwal enters quarters

Odense: World No 10 Saina Nehwal on Thursday advanced to the quarter-final of Denmark Open with a brilliant 21-15, 21-17 victory over world No 2 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, in just 36 minutes.

So far, off seven meetings, Saina had lost six times to the Japanese. This is only the second victory for Saina over Yamaguchi in eight meetings.For Saina, it was a huge victory over the second best woman in the world, in terms of ranking.Saina will next face another Japanese Nozomi Okuhara, who earlier defeated Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand 21-19, 21-18.(UNI)
