Paris: Once a fortress of Rafael Nadal's dominance, the Roland Garros was transformed into a stage for Novak Djokovic’s brilliance during the Paris Olympics on Monday.

Djokovic delivered a stunning performance, defeating Nadal 6-1, 6-4 in the second round of the singles competition. For Nadal, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and the legendary "King of Clay," this loss was a shocking blow, especially on the Philippe Chatrier court where he had reigned supreme for so long.

Dubbed a clash of tennis titans, the match showcased Djokovic's exceptional form, leaving Nadal struggling to keep up. Djokovic, driven by his quest for his first Olympic gold, played with relentless precision that overwhelmed the Spanish icon, who was aiming for his third Olympic title.

From the first set, Djokovic’s dominance was unmistakable. Nadal, usually unshakeable, found himself down 5-0 and couldn’t find his rhythm. Though Nadal managed a brief comeback by holding serve for the first time in the sixth game, Djokovic quickly regained control and wrapped up the set with a masterful performance.

Djokovic, who had previously faced disappointment at the hands of Nadal in past Olympics, seized this chance to set things right. For Nadal, the defeat was a poignant moment, marking what could be his final appearance at the Olympics on a court where he once ruled.

As Nadal exited the court, blowing kisses to the Parisian crowd, the emotional weight of the moment was evident.
