Former Australia spinner Bruce Yardley dies at 71

New Delhi: Bruce Yardley, the former Australia off-spinner, passed away after a prolonged fight with cancer in far north Western Australia on Wednesday.He was 71.According to Australia Cricket's official website, Yardley died in a West Australian hospital on Wednesday morning.Yardley played 33 Tests and seven one-day internationals (ODIs) for Australia between 1978 and 1983.
The major achievement of the off-spinner's Test career was the 10-wicket haul which he took against the West Indies team at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in 1982, including 7-98 in the second innings. He took 126 Test wickets overall.
 
The Australian cricketer initially started his career as a medium-pace bowler but later turned to off-spin.(UNI)
