Chennai: The Indian and Bangladesh teams had a training session and net practice ahead of their first test at M A Chidambaram Stadium beginning here on September 19.

The Bangladesh team arrived here on Sunday evening and had a brief session.

On Monday, they had a full fledged training session at the stadium with their key batters having long knock at the nets and the bowlers keen to replicate their form they had shown in the recent Pakistan series, which Bangladesh won for the first time 2-0.

The Indian team, on the other hand, which landed four days ago, had been having full sessions under the watchful eyes of new coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach South African Morne Morkel, and was keen to sustain winning momentum in the World Test Championship series and qualify for the final in June for the their successive time.

India will be playing ten tests--two against Bangladesh, three against New Zealand and five against their tour of Australia, where they will be looking to win a hat-trick of series wins--before World Test Championship finals.

At least 5 to 6 wins out of the ten tests could cement India's place in the World Test Championship series final.

All the leading batsmen including, skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rishab Pant, who made a come back into the Test team after a gap of nearly 20 months following injuries he sustained in a car crash, K L Rahul, had a good batting practice at the nets.

Speedsters Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj, Akash Deep and Yash Dayal, who has earned the National cap, also had a session at the nets along with spinners R.Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

While India will field a full strength team, Bangladesh will be high on confidence after their historic series win over Pakistan.

However, Bangladesh will miss the services of experienced seamer Shoriful Islam who was recovering from a groin injury he sustained during the Pakistan tour.

Bangladesh had made only one one change to the squad that defeated Pakistan 2-0 last week. Wicket keeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik was drafted into the side for Shoriful Islam.
