Sydney:The three-day pink-ball tour game between Australia A and India ended in a draw on the third and final day, here at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.
India, who had secured a lead of 86 runs in the first innings, declared their second innings at overnight score of 386/4, setting the home side a stiff 473-run target.
In reply, Australia A finished on 307 for 4 in 75 overs when the two captains shook hands and decided to bring an early end to the 3-day match. India had bundled out Australia A for 108 after being dismissed for 194 on the opening day at the SCG.
Starting the day, Mohammad Shami set the ball rolling for India as he dismissed Marcus Harris (5) in the fifth over.
Four overs later, Shami picked his fifth wicket of the match as he trapped Joe Burns (1) before the wickets. Mohammed Siraj struck in the 12th over to dismiss Nic Maddinson (14) as Australia A lost their third wicket.
Ben McDermott and Alex Carey joined forces following the fall of the third wicket and put up a fighting 117-run stand. However, the partnership was broken in the second session of the final day as Carey was caught for 58 at mid-on off Hanuma Vihari's bowling.
Jack Wildermuth walked out to bat following Carey's fall to join McDermott. The two scored hundreds and put up an unbroken 165-run stand before both the teams settled for a draw after Australia A reached 307/4.
While McDermott scored an unbeaten 107, Wildermuth remained not out on 111. The first Test of the four match series between Australia and India will be played under lights with the pink balls at the Adelaide Oval from December 17.
